AXYOS – Gameplay Review [June 2025]

AXYOS is one of those games that tried to do something different and deserves a bit of credit for that. It blends first-person shooter mechanics with a light MOBA-style progression system. Instead of having a static loadout like in most arena shooters, here you upgrade your gear and abilities during each match by earning points from kills and objectives. The more you perform, the more powerful you become in that match session. In theory, it adds a layer of strategy and pacing, where you start humble but grow into a powerhouse as the match unfolds.

Visually, the game looks dated by today’s standards but still has some charm. The maps are open enough to allow different playstyles sniping, flanking, or going full tank mode. The gunplay is decent, though not groundbreaking. It has its rough edges, and you can tell it came from a smaller studio experimenting with ideas rather than chasing trends.

But here's the catch: as of now, AXYOS is effectively dead. The multiplayer lobby is completely empty. You can launch the game, try to start a match, and wait endlessly without ever seeing another player. It’s a ghost town. There was a time when it had a small, loyal player base, but that time has clearly passed. With no active servers or matchmaking, you're left with just one option: bots.

To the game’s credit, you can still play with a bot. It’s not the same as playing against real people, of course, but it at least gives you a chance to experience the mechanics and see what the developers were trying to build. If you're really curious, or just want to mess around for a few matches, it might be enough. It’s also worth noting that the game is stable and doesn’t crash or break, even if it’s no longer actively maintained.

So is it worth getting? That depends. If you see it on sale for a couple bucks and want to explore a forgotten experimental shooter, sure just manage your expectations. Don’t go in expecting active multiplayer, community support, or updates. At this point, it’s a relic—interesting from a design perspective, but not much else.

Final verdict: 5/10.
It had potential and some genuinely cool ideas, but the player base is gone. You’re better off treating it like a short single-player sandbox with bots, not a live game. A forgotten experiment that sadly faded away.
